In partnership, Clogher Valley Bee Keepers Association, the Institute of Northern Ireland Beekeepers and Mid Ulster Beekeepers Association are proud to present two lectures by Mr Alan Riach, FIMechE , President of the Scottish Beekeepers’ Association. Alan will deliver two talks for local beekeepers.
- Best of Friends – Bees and Flowers – A talk about the mutually beneficial relationship between honeybees and flowers
- Beekeeping –My Methods & Experiments – A general talk on my beekeeping with a few unique tweaks tried out over the years.

- Non Members £8.00
Why not stay on for a meal at Salleys after the talks. Restaurant bookings will be accepted on arrival for the talk.
Alan Riach is a chartered engineer who worked as an automobile design and development director before retiring.
He has kept bees as a hobby for about 28 years & usually has about a dozen hives. He has attained the Scottish Beekeeper’s Association (SBA), Expert Beemaster Certificate, the senior SBA qualification and is also a Honey Judge.
Since retiring he has been the Education Convener of The Scottish Beekeeper’s Association (SBA), Scotland’s leading honeybee charity and is responsible for organising the SBA practical and theory examinations in beekeeping, microscopy and honey judging. He is also responsible for disseminating information about beekeeping at shows such as the Royal Highland & has collaborated with the Highland Society Education Trust in producing video clips for schools.
He is currently the President of the SBA
Alan is a member of the Edinburgh & Midlothian Beekeeper’s Association (EMBA), one of the 46 local beekeeping associations in Scotland all of which are affiliated to the SBA. He helps to run the beginners classes for EMBA & co-ordinates EMBA’s Apiary site.
